The Darwinbox Boosts Middle Eastern Expansion and Seek $50M OTPP Funding

by The Leaders Today

August 2025 With a new round of funding and an intentional drive for growth in the Middle East, Indian employment technology platform Darwinbox is set to take a major step forward in its worldwide expansion. In order to boost Darwinbox’s valuation above $1 billion and establish its position as one of India’s newest unicorns, the company is in progressing negotiations to secure $50 million through the Ontario province Teachers’ Pension Plan (OTPP).

A Massive Investment Point in History
The transaction, which involves both main and subsequent share trades, represents a major turning point in Darwinbox’s development. While OTPP’s support indicates strong trust from institutions in the company’s long-term potential, early shareholder Peak XV Associates is anticipated to partly quit.

The additional funding will increase upon the $140 million in funding Darwin Box that was raised earlier than expected in a round that was co-led by Partners Group and KKR and was intended to speed up worldwide expansion and product development.

According to a Darwinbox representative, “this most recent funding will not only bolster our financial standing but also help us push the pace powered by AI human resources innovation and scale processes across developing and established markets.”

Expansion in the Middle East: A Strategic planning

Recent initiatives by Darwinbox in the Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) area highlight the company’s goal of being a preeminent supplier of HR technology worldwide. Its growth in the area stands out by:

Creating a Regional Headquarters in Dubai (DIFC): Founded in 2022, this regional headquarters serves as a focal point for MENA activities.

Regional Products: Darwinbox has launched features specifically designed for the area, such as voicebot-enabled HR services, Arabic-language mobile apps, and attendance systems that use facial recognition.

Formally established in 2024, the long-term partnership with PwC Middle East combines Darwinbox’s platform with PwC’s workforce consulting to provide all-inclusive HR technology transformation solutions throughout the Gulf.

Plans for Global Growth
The Middle East is not the only region where Darwinbox has expanded globally. As its war chest expands, the business is also concentrating on:

Increasing sales, collaborations, and regional item customization throughout North America and Europe.

Asia-Pacific (APAC): Expanding its footprint in Japan, Australia, and Southeast Asia.

AI & Payroll Construction: It is believed that a sizable amount of the new funds will be used to develop multi-country payroll capabilities and increase the use of AI-powered employee engagement solutions.

With millions of workers on its platform and more than 900 commercial clients, Darwinbox is now seen as a significant rival to multinational SaaS behemoths like Oracle HCM, Deel, Rippling, and SAP SuccessFactors.
