Who has influenced your life and leadership style most profoundly?
My leadership style has been shaped by two key forces: my family and my professional mentors. From my parents, I learned resilience, humility, and the value of hard work. From my mentors in the retail and technology sectors, I absorbed the importance of leading with vision, empathy, and accountability. Observing how they navigated challenges with composure and clarity helped me refine my own approach—balancing business objectives with people-centric leadership.
When the options are unclear and the risks are great, how do you make
challenging decisions?
I believe decision-making under uncertainty requires structured thinking and calm judgment. I start by gathering as much data as possible, analyzing different scenarios, and weighing risks against long-term goals. I also consult trusted colleagues to gain diverse perspectives. Once I’ve evaluated the facts, I rely on intuition and experience to guide the final call. Importantly, I commit fully to the decision, ensuring alignment across the team and adjusting course when new insights emerge.
Which book or piece of fiction has influenced your perspective the most?
The Lean Startup by Eric Ries has had a lasting impact on my perspective. It reinforced the principle of experimentation, agility, and learning from failure—something I carry into every project. In retail technology, where customer needs evolve rapidly, this philosophy has allowed me to innovate confidently while minimizing wasted effort and resources.
What is the biggest sacrifice you have ever had to make for your job or
career?
The biggest sacrifice I’ve made for my career has undeniably been the periods of intense time commitment that sometimes strained my personal life and reduced time with family. Early in my career, particularly during critical product launches or large-scale system implementations in retail, there were extended phases involving late nights, early mornings, and working through weekends. These were necessary to ensure project success, meet ambitious deadlines, and establish myself as a reliable leader. The sacrifice wasn’t just physical exhaustion; it was missing out on certain family moments, having less time for personal pursuits, and constantly needing to balance professional demands with personal commitments. While I don’t regret the career progression these efforts enabled, there were definite trade-offs. It taught me the crucial importance of intentional time management, setting boundaries where possible, and finding ways to integrate work and life more harmoniously. It also reinforced the need to be present and fully engaged when I am with my family, making the most of every moment after periods of intense work.

Which values would you like to pass on to the next generation?
I would like to pass on three values: integrity, adaptability, and collaboration. Integrity builds trust and credibility. Adaptability ensures resilience in an ever-changing world. Collaboration allows us to leverage diverse strengths and achieve more collectively. These values, I believe, are timeless and critical for navigating both personal and professional challenges.

My personal life and family profoundly shape my leadership style, primarily by grounding me in the importance of balance, empathy, and long-term perspective. As a parent and a partner, I’ve learned the nuanced art of active listening, negotiation, and adapting to diverse needs within a dynamic ecosystem—skills directly transferable to leading a team. My family life reinforces the value of patience, particularly when guiding team members through challenging projects or helping them develop new skills. It also teaches me the importance of celebrating small wins and fostering a positive, supportive environment, much like I strive to create at home. The need to maintain a work-life balance for myself also makes me a more empathetic leader toward my team’s personal lives. I understand that people have commitments and challenges outside of work, and supporting that balance often leads to a more engaged, loyal, and productive workforce. This personal grounding helps me lead with greater authenticity, understanding that behind every team member is an individual with their own aspirations and responsibilities.
